PLEASE BE ADVISED FOR BLS ONLY STUDENTS

Please be advised there is no precourse work to be submitted for BLS. If you are taking only BLS you do not need to do anything other than sign up for the training which if you are seeing this notice you have already completed.

Precourse Overview Explained

The ACLS and PALS Precourse Self-Assessments are online tools designed to evaluate a student’s knowledge prior to the course, helping determine their proficiency and identify areas that may require additional review and practice across three sections: rhythm recognition, pharmacology, and practical application. Please note that BLS does not include a precourse assessment.

Students must complete the Precourse Self-Assessment and achieve a minimum score of 70% before attending the ACLS or PALS course. The precourse work also includes reviewing course content through required online videos prior to entering the classroom. These video lessons cover multiple medical topics, and each lesson includes questions to reinforce learning and engagement.

Completing this precourse work allows for more focused classroom time dedicated to lecture, EKG training, protocols, and hands-on skills practice, ensuring that students are prepared to actively participate from the moment they arrive.

To ensure you are fully prepared for your upcoming American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS or PALS training, completion of the required Precourse assessment (Pretest) is mandatory.

The Pretest is designed to confirm a foundational understanding of the course material before attending your in-person session. A minimum score of 70% is required to pass. You may retake the Pretest as many times as needed until you achieve a passing score.

All Pretest certificates must be submitted no later than 8:00 PM on the day before your scheduled class. Late submissions are not accepted. If the Precourse work is not completed and submitted on time, your class will be rescheduled for a later date.

Once completed, email your Pretest completion certificate to: ellamed.org@yahoo.com. Please note that only the official certificate is accepted—score reports or other documents will not fulfill this requirement.

Completion of the Precourse work is required for class attendance. This policy, mandated by the AHA, helps ensure all participants arrive prepared and allows for a more efficient and focused training experience.
